The announcement was made just a few hours ago in a live streaming of the anime adaptation of the novel Mushoku Tensei, original by Rifujin na Magonote.
During said transmission anime confirmed to premiere next January, a new cast member was revealed, and the anime’s first mobile video game was even announced. This news finally ended the wait after the delay that was reported last June. Regarding the cast addition, Daisuke Namikawa will play Ruijerd Superdia of the Superd race.
The developer and distribution company Beaglee is planning to release next year the role-playing game Mushoku Tensei ~ Game ni Nattemo Honki Dasu ~ (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation – I’ll Seriously Try Even If It’s Made Into a Game) as a title “free to play” (with internal micro transactions) for both iOS and Android devices. The first promotional video for it was released during the aforementioned live streaming.
Manabu Okamoto (Gamers!) Is directing the series for Studio Bind. EGG FIRM is also involved in the production. For his part, Kazutaka Sugiyama (Animation Director at DARLING in the FRANXX) is in charge of character design.
The story of Mushoku Tensei, original by Rifujin na Magonote and illustrated by Shirotaka, is described as follows:
Just when an unemployed 34-year-old otaku finds himself at a dead end in his life and decides it’s time for a change, he’s hit by a truck and dies! Dramatically, he soon realizes that he has been reborn in the body of a baby in a strange fantasy world. His new identity is Rudeus Grayrat, but he still maintains the memories of his previous life.
